The Expression

The following is a collection of poems I have either written or fell in love with. Enjoy!
  • On A Journey

by Dellwyn Oseana - November 2007

I have been on a journey
    Towards a strange self-discovery
I have met so many strangers,
    While fending off countless dangers.
    But every now and then...
Someone I meet does not pretend...
To be something they are not...
    Something I wish I forgot.

  • Nothing In Your Heart

by Dellwyn Oseana - June 2007
    For a dear friend.

Like the sky opening after a thundering night,
I awaken with you in my mind like bright moonlight.
In my dreams, I imagine the simplest of things.
Yet, the future of life cannot be carried on wings.
I want to show the world that everyone has their part.
Even though you think you have nothing in your heart.

Take this sudden eclipse of loneliness
And erase the only passion you fear
Take this flash of a wintry fortress
And don't forget you are my dear.

There is nothing in your heart that makes you love
There is nothing in your heart that makes you cry
There is nothing in your heart that makes me care
It's all in your heart that you are there
It's all in your heart that you can fly
It's all in your heart that you are love.

  • Untitled (maybe even unfinished)

by Dellwyn Oseana - February 2007
This poem is like a song in my head or a dream swimming in my subconscious.

    Be free, oh lost flower,
    To blossom ever more,
In the darkness of never-ending light,
    For through shadows come knowledge,
And through freedom comes peaceful truth.

    Be content, oh sleepy butterfly,
And fly above your daily sacrifice,
To dance with dry raindrops before you die,
And sing on the birthing wind that resurrects your spirit.

    Be love, oh lost sight,
To kiss lips of bursting hope,
And once again believe in dreams of secrets,
And not be blinded by the world's remarkable lies.

  • Numb

by Dellwyn Oseana - January 2007
Since the New Year started, a lot has happened to me and people I know. Some of us become so wrapped up in our own feelings that sometimes I think we become numb with emotion. This is what this poem is about. It's for those of us who feel numb. (And yes, I also used the song from Pink with the same title as inspiration.)

Void of emotion, my skin cannot feel.
Hollow with thought, nothing seems real.
Is this a disguise? A lie from the sum.
Is this just me, ignoring everyone.
    I am numb.
Don't know why, but it almost seems fun.
    I am numb.
I'll be ok. Just waiting for some good ole sun.

  • I am, I am Not Defined

by Dellwyn Oseana - January 2007
This is a poem I started writing during the last week of 2006. I was chatting with one of my best girlfriend when I was on holiday in the Caribbean. We talked about life and love. We talked about society and just about everything. That evening, this poem was born and today it's ready to be shared. I dedicate this to everyone who feels labeled. I'd like to thank Lily for the inspiration.

I am not defined by my skin color,
I did not choose my ancestry.

I am not defined by my sexuality,
I cannot control who my heart loves.

I am not defined by my gender,
I can only blame a chromosome for that fact.

I am not defined by my existence,
My life is insignificant compared to the grand design.

However, I am defined by my ambition,
The reason behind why I pursue my dreams.

I am defined by my awareness,
My constant thirst for knowledge through enlightenment.

I am defined by my conduct,
My behaviour and choices influence my future.

I am defined by my imagination,
I see the world as I would like it to be.

I am defined by my interaction with this world,
To make a difference is my motivation.

I am not defined by my DNA.
I am not defined by you.
    I am defined by me.

  • Two Passing Ships

by Dellwyn Oseana - a long time ago

Like two passing ships, we met,
In a sea of blissful harmony.
With the stars crying when I'm upset,
With your anchor always protecting me.

Like two passing ships, I feel your love,
Like the sun and the moon holding hands.
Embarking on a voyage like Noah's dove,
Into a heavenly world filled with new lands.

Like two passing ships, we share each other,
We explain the reasons for our being.
The water is so calm now that we're together,
And you will be the only direction I'm seeing.

  • The Road Not Taken

    by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
and having perhaps the better claim.
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence;
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
